Optimation played a key role in helping Vodafone develop and roll-out Vodafone live!, the company's ground-breaking consumer multimedia offering.

Vodafone live! transformed the mobile phone into a multi-faceted, multimedia fashion accessory, enabling customers to text, chat, download games to play, browse the web, access their diaries and get realistic polyphonic ring-tones. Supporting the consumer experience is a highly complex technology environment which integrates traditional business IT systems with systems for delivering web content and telecommunications services to customers.

Vodafone's Global Technology Group originally selected a range of vendors and Java-based technology options, and Vodafone's regional organisations were then able to choose the best implementation for them. Vodafone New Zealand was an early implementer, and the architecture used included Weblogic servers, the Epicentric-based portal platform, and specialised content delivery systems from M-power.
